Creating Your CasperVend Account
When you first rez a Vendor, you need to think of a secure password for your account, which will be requested whenever you make a change.
If you have trouble coming up with a secure password on your own, you can use the Gibson Research High Security Password Generator. If you need a "password keeper" utility on windows, you can try Password Safe
To set this password, please do the following on all EXCEPT the Touch or Headless vendors:
- Click on the (C)asperVend logo in the bottom left hand corner of one of your vendors.
- Click "Go To Page" on the popup window with the website link.
- You should see a website message that says "Welcome, <Your Name>.".
- Enter a password, and enter it again, then click Save Password.
Use these instructions for the Touch or Headless vendors:
- Click the vendor. You will get a touch/popup menu.
- Click "Admin"
- You will get a link in local chat. Open up your chat history and click that.
- You should see a website message that says "Welcome, <Your Name>.".
- Enter a password, and enter it again, then click Save Password.
Resetting Your CasperVend Password
- Rez out a vendor and click the CasperVend logo area - this is your "admin" button. If your vendor doesn't have a CasperVend logo, click the object (or the main display panel, if there is one) and choose "Admin" from the popup menu.
- This will give you a popup menu with a site link, as well as the link in local chat history.
- If you do not see this, you will need to unmute yourself. Look in your viewer's mute/block list.
- Take that link to the website.
- You will be presented with a login prompt AND a "I've forgotten my password" link.
- You will NOT see the "forgotten my password" link unless you use the link from one of your vendors or DropBox(es). This inworld authentication ensures that nobody can reset your password by simply visiting the website and entering your account name.
- Check the box for "I've forgotten by password"
- Clear anything that exists in the "Password" field
- Click "login". The website will add some text to the effect of "A link has been sent to you via instant message inworld. Please click it to verify this request."
- Open your chat history inworld - you'll have a "Hello! Please click this link to reset your password" message with a link.
- Click that link. You'll be taken back to the CasperVend website for the password reset page. Type in your new password in both boxes, and click "save password".
- Once you do that, you'll be logged in to the website. All done!
