How to get the latest version
There are many ways to get the latest versions of your CasperTech products:
Use a redelivery terminal
- ANY CasperVend redelivery terminal (bundled with CasperVend) can be used to redeliver the vendors. It doesn't matter whether it's your terminal, Casper's terminal, or someone else's. However, if you use the one at the CasperTech store, it will sort all CasperTech purchases to the top of the list, making them easier to see.
Use a vendor
- Touch the main panel of any CasperVend v2 vendor, and on the popup menu, use the "Redeliver" button to access our redelivery system.
Visit the Overview tab on the CasperVend Website
- All your purchases are listed on the CasperVend website on the overview tab for you to redeliver.
Send CasperTech Resident an IM
- You'll receive an automatic response within a minute or two which will guide you to getting your product update.
How to update
CasperTech use a home brewed whizzy update system! There's no need to replace all your vendors, just let the upgradebee will do the work!
Does my product use the UpgradeBee?
- Here's the products that support it:
- CasperVend (All Vendors)
- Holovend
- Affiliate plug-in
- Lucky Chairs
- Texture Vendors
- CasperLet
- SuperVend Mesh
- These products don't:
- Gift Cards
- Transporter
- Rez-Free / Rez-Free Premium
- Resizer
- Titler of Doom
- Let It Snow
- Spinner
- SimpleSit
How do I use the bee? =
- You need to do the following steps on each region that contains vendor units to be upgraded:
- Rez the UpgradeBee
- Touch it
- Click "Update All"
- Wait until it finishes.
- You will have to grant debit perms many times as the units come back online, this is normal. If you don't answer them right away, they will pile up because the vendors will keep asking for them every minute or two.
- Please make sure it's the latest bee from the latest pack of the product you want to update. Note that CasperVend FatPack consists of many products, each with their own bee.
- For Affiliate vendors, you can do one of the following:
- Recommended: Rez each of your affiliate vendors, use the bee, pick them up, and ship them out.
- Or send your upgrade bee to your affiliates
- Not recommended, but good if you don't have much time. This isn't recommended for several reasons...
- a. Affiliates simply dont bother to update
- b. If you ship the vendors out as no modify, it won't work anyway
- c. If the affiliates have the vendors locked, it won't work
- d. You'll still be sending out the old ones in future, which is bad
- Or send your upgrade bee to your affiliates
Do I have to upgrade?
- Upgrades are rarely mandatory, but often recommended for bug fixes.
- When we do force an upgrade (such as the decomissioning of the v1 network), we give several months of notice so you have plenty of opportunity to upgrade your vendors.
What do I do if my product doesn't support the bee?
- If there's no updatebee for your product, you will need to set up the new versions manually since there's no automated upgrade process.
Upgrading From Free to Premium / FatPack
- If you're currently using CasperVend Free, you can upgrade to Premium really easily!
- Simply REZ OUT your CasperVend 2.x Premium crate, on land where you are allowed to run scripts - the crate will contact the web server and automatically upgrade your vendors from "free" to "premium" with no need for an upgradebee or any other action on your part!
FAQ / Troubleshooting
- Q. Will the UgradeBee update vendors in all sims/regions I have vendors in or just one?
- A1. The UpgradeBee can only update vendors in one sim at a time - unfortunately the commands are not able to cross sim boundaries or go across the grid.
- Because updating the script requires a reset, you'll need to be present at some point (it can be "now" or "later") to answer all the yellow/orange debit permissions windows. Remember that your vendors will NOT function for your customers until you grant these debit permissions!
- This happens because the new updated script does NOT know - will never know - the permissions you granted to the old version. To you, this is "granting them again" but to the script this is "I never had permissions, so I have to ask."
- A2. If you have multiple locations, you can drop an upgrade bee at each one, start it going at each location, and then come back around later to answer all the debit permissions requests. Just remember that vendors won't work until debit permissions are granted, so don't leave them hanging too long if you can avoid it.
- Q. When I rez out a vendor from inventory, should it always ask for debit permissions?
- A. If you have PREVIOUSLY granted debit permissions, and then picked it up, or picked up a copy, then no, it will not ask again - it remembers debit permissions once granted, as long as it has not been updated or hard reset.
- Q. When I use an updatebee, I have to manually grant debit permission for each vendor. I thought the vendors remembered this?
- A1. This happens because the new updated script does NOT know the permissions you granted to the old version. To you, this is "granting them again" but to the script this is "I never had permissions, so I have to ask."
- A2. This also happens if you drag-copy - the copy will ask for debit permissions, but the original will remember them.
- A3. If you manually reset (a/k/a hard reset) the vendors, it will act as a brand new script (because resetting scripts makes them flush their prior memory, which includes debit permissions.)
