CasperVend and CasperLet now both support payments in real world currency! Via our payment partner VirWox, you can now offer your users much more freedom with their payment choice.
How does it work?
- The user touches your unit (be it a vendor or a rental unit).
- They click "Buy" on CasperVend, or "Pay" on CasperLet.
- They are presented with payment choices - PayPal, Credit Card or L$. They choose one.
- They are sent to a website, operated by VirWox, where they complete their payment.
- When VirWox notifies us that the payment completed, the money (in L$) is sent to your Second Life avatar..
- The product is delivered (or rental is extended).
Do I need a PayPal account? or a merchant bank account?
No. The money will arrive as Linden Dollars to your second life avatar, as normal.
Is there any fee or charge?
You pay nothing. The customer will pay a small surcharge depending on what payment method they use.
It seems really expensive..
PayPal and credit card companies often levy a minimum "per transaction" fee, and the VirWox exchange reflects this. It's very expensive to buy a L$99 item this way - but buying a L$5k item, or paying rent, is often cheaper than via the Lindex.
What is the exchange rate?
It varies. We use VirWox to perform the currency exchange, so the exchange rate will depend on the current selling price of L$.
Can I disable this?
Yes. On CasperVend, you can disable the option under the Overview section. On CasperLet, you can disable the option under unit configuration.
