CasperAuth - your unified CasperTech account
Hello everyone!
Some of you may have already noticed that we've activated a brand new (much simpler, and much more secure) login system on all three CasperTech websites.
You may be asked to authenticate your avatar and choose a new password the next time you sign in, if you haven't done so already.
This new system also recognises avatar name changes instantly.
If you encounter any trouble, please let us know!
CasperVend Procedures
Users with older CasperVend accounts: Your listings are still there!
You will NOT have to recreate listings - they will all still be there, ready for use, as they were before the new CasperAuth login system went into place.
Initial login via CasperAuth
You WILL need to be logged in to Second Life in order to do this.
- Go to the CasperVend website, you will arrive at a blue login screen
- Enter the avatar name that you originally created the CasperVend account under, and click "Continue"
- Click "Send Code Now"
- You will be sent a message INWORLD (from a bot, so it will be an actual IM) with a temporary password
- Double-click OR highlight-drag > CTL + C to copy the password into your paste buffer
- Paste it into the confirmation box on the website
- You will then be prompted to choose a NEW password (Need a password generator?)
- Next, you will be prompted to link your avatar to your CasperVend account - click the GREEN authorise button
- Once you do that, the system will process things, and then forward you to your EXISTING CasperVend account
Didn't get the inworld message?
If you didn't get the inworld message, check two things:
- 1) Make sure you don't have "CasperHelp Resident" blocked
- 2) Check your Privacy (or IMs & Logs, depending on viewer) preferences, make sure you allow IM's from ANYONE not just friends/groups
CasperVend - Normal Logins, same name
- Enter your avatar name, and click Continue
- Enter your password, click continue
- You will arrive at your expected CasperVend overview page
CasperVend - Login, after changing account name
You should be able to log in immediately with the new name.
Troubleshooting
If you try to sign in to the same account too many times, it will use Google's Recapcha to make sure you're not a bot. This is normal.
If you are logging in several times to test something, and all of a sudden it stops responding, you likely have google and the recaptcha website blocked via either an adblocker or a javascript blocker. Just unblock them, reload and try again.
Resetting Your CasperVend Password
- If you do not see this popup, you will need to unmute yourself. Look in your viewer's mute/block list.
- You will NOT see the "forgotten my password" link unless you use the link from one of your vendors or DropBox(es). This inworld authentication ensures that nobody can reset your password by simply visiting the website and entering your account name.
Creating Your CasperLet Account
If you have trouble coming up with a secure password on your own, you can use the Gibson Research High Security Password Generator. If you need a "password keeper" utility on windows, you can try Password Safe
Users with older CasperLet accounts: Your rental units are still there!
You will NOT have to recreate your rental unit listings on the website - they will all still be there, ready for use, as they were before the new CasperAuth login system went into place.
