| Sometimes, a user may want to purchase something without having enough L$ balance. This system provides them with a very quick, easy way of purchasing an item inworld using real world currency.
| | This is not something Casper can work around - LL has banned people in the past for attempting outside payments after that date. |
| | |
| This process is designed to make it easier for users to give you money! That can never be a bad thing, right? | |
| | |
| ==How does it work?==
| |
| | |
| # The user touches your unit (be it a vendor or a rental unit).
| |
| # They click "Buy" on CasperVend, or "Pay" on CasperLet.
| |
| # They are presented with payment choices - PayPal, Credit Card or L$. They choose one.
| |
| # They are sent to a website, operated by VirWox, where they complete their payment.
| |
| # When VirWox notifies us that the payment completed, the money (in L$) is sent to your Second Life avatar..
| |
| # The product is delivered (or rental is extended).
| |
| | |
| ==Do I need a PayPal account? or a merchant bank account?==
| |
| | |
| No. The money will arrive as Linden Dollars to your second life avatar, as normal.
| |
| | |
| ==Is there any fee or charge?==
| |
| | |
| You pay nothing. The customer will pay a small surcharge depending on what payment method they use.
| |
| | |
| ==It seems expensive..==
| |
| | |
| PayPal and credit card companies often levy a minimum "per transaction" fee, and the VirWox exchange reflects this. It's often very expensive to buy low priced items (e.g L$20) this way - the more linden dollars being exchanged, the better deal they'll get. Buying an expensive item this way is often cheaper than using PayPal or Credit Cards on the SL Marketplace.
| |
| | |
| ==What is the exchange rate?==
| |
| | |
| It varies. We use VirWox to perform the currency exchange, so the exchange rate will depend on the current selling price of L$ on the VirWox exchange.
| |
| | |
| ==Can I disable this?==
| |
| | |
| Yes.
| |
| On CasperVend, you can disable the option under the Overview section.
| |
| On CasperLet, you can disable the option under unit configuration.

PayPal, Credit Cards, Etc.
Linden Lab has killed the Linden Dollar Reseller program.
"As of August 1, 2015, the Authorized L$ Reseller pilot program will be closed, and the LindeX will be the only authorized place to purchase L$."
Unfortunately, this also included the loss of the VirWox service that was used to provide this capability.
This is not something Casper can work around - LL has banned people in the past for attempting outside payments after that date.
